Why the name "Jobedu" ?
While many people look to the West for inspiration, we decided to look inwards, towards home. We decided that with our resources and our mission, the most suitable source of inspiration should come from the masters of resourcefulness in the face of adversity: the Bedouins, and we coined the term "Jobedu" Driven by the necessity to overcome every conceivable hardship, Bedouins are natural-born entrepreneurs. legendary boot-strappers, master strategists, miracle planners, incredible hospitable and survivors of the first degree. With four-thousand dollars to our names, a cars, and an ocean of determination. We started with next to nothing, and learned to grow and prosper with next to nothing. Today, Jobedu continues to grow towards bigger and better things everyday. Yet we have never forgotten where we began, or who we are. We did it in the spirit of the Bedu; the spirit of Jobedu.
Whats the story behind Jobedu?
Jobedu was founded in 2007 by high school friends Tamer AlMasri and Michael Makdah, who decided to start a brand that captures the positive energy, voice and spirit on their Arab culture. With a $4,000 USD budget they printed 6 designs on 600 T-shirts and started selling in Souk Jara, a popular Friday street market in Amman, Jordan.
From there the Jobedu story started unfolding as they opened stores in Jordan, participated in regional expos such as the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) as well as the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) and selling Jobedu merch through Virgin Megastores in the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman,
In 2018 Jobedu started expanding in the region through franchising with Palestine and Kuwait and, under the slogan "Join the Tribe" are continuing to build awesome communities all over.
Now in 2023 Jobedu has gone global and started a factory in the united States, partnering with artists across regions and cultures to eliminate boundaries across the world.
As a community driven brand Jobedu is the result of many many many people who shaped and continue to shape it on a daily basis. The stories from this journey is never ending and continuously unfolding as we discover new territories, meet new people, collaborate with amazing creative designers and illustrators and keep exploring our intensely rich identity.
